The Team Behind CSUN FMA 

Treasury

The Treasury Team is the financial backbone of CSUN FMA. This team manages the chapter’s budget, ensures all transactions are recorded accurately, and oversees the responsible use of funds across all events and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creating and maintaining the semester and annual budget

  • Processing membership payments and reimbursements

  • Managing club fundraising efforts and merchandise sales

  • Coordinating with the university’s financial services

  • Ensuring transparency and financial accountability

Treasury plays a vital role in sustaining the organization’s growth while providing funding for professional development, competitions, and social events.

Outreach

The Outreach Team focuses on building relationships beyond the organization. This includes connecting with other CSUN student organizations, alumni, faculty, industry professionals, and FMA chapters at other universities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiating collaborations with other clubs and departments

  • Coordinating co-hosted events and cross-campus programs

  • Reaching out to alumni and professionals for speaker events

  • Expanding FMA’s reputation within the CSUN community and beyond

  • Managing Matasync and student engagement platforms

Outreach plays a key role in expanding FMA’s network, leading to more opportunities for members and stronger partnerships.

Market Research

The Market Research Team bridges the gap between finance theory and real-world application. They keep members updated on current financial news, trends, and investment strategies while providing learning opportunities and support for finance competitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering market updates and economic insights during meetings

  • Supporting StockTrak, forecasting, and investment competitions

  • Creating educational content (newsletters, presentations, infographics)

  • Leading analysis discussions on major companies and market movements

  • Encouraging financial literacy and active learning

This team is ideal for students passionate about markets, investing, and financial analysis.

Marketing & Communications

The Marketing & Communications Team is in charge of branding, design, and messaging for CSUN FMA. This team ensures that all internal and external communications are clear, professional, and aligned with the organization’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing social media accounts (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)

  • Designing promotional materials (flyers, videos, digital graphics)

  • Creating and sending newsletters and event reminders

  • Maintaining the FMA website and updating content regularly

  • Promoting meetings, workshops, and guest speaker events

This team is essential in growing FMA’s presence on campus and engaging with both members and potential partners.

Professional Development

The Professional Development Team is committed to helping members grow into future leaders in finance. They create and facilitate opportunities for career exploration, skill-building, and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organizing workshops (resume building, LinkedIn, interview prep, etc.)

  • Hosting career panels and employer meetups

  • Coordinating mock interviews and office tours

  • Providing mentorship and professional guidance

  • Helping members prepare for competitive internships and job applications

This team ensures that members are not just informed about finance, but also prepared to succeed in it.

Student Advisors

Student Advisors are experienced past leaders of CSUN FMA who serve in a mentorship and support role for the current executive board. They provide continuity, strategic guidance, and a historical perspective on what has worked well (and what hasn’t) in past years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offering guidance during major decisions and transitions

  • Supporting new board members with training and onboarding

  • Helping maintain consistency in long-term planning and branding

  • Serving as a resource for institutional knowledge and best practices

  • Assisting in special projects or large-scale events as needed

Student Advisors are crucial for ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of FMA’s mission.
